產(chǎn)品介紹 This gene encodes an evolutionarily-conserved protein containing an N-terminal chromodomain and a C-terminal SET domain. The encoded protein is a histone methyltransferase that trimethylates lysine 9 of histone H3, which results in transcriptional gene silencing. Loss of function of this gene disrupts heterochromatin formation and may cause chromosome instability. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Aug 2013]

組蛋白甲基轉(zhuǎn)移酶,以單乙基化H3‘Lys-9’為底物,特異性地對組蛋白H3的‘Lys-9’進(jìn)行三甲基化。也有弱甲基化組蛋白H1(體外)。H3‘Lys-9’三甲基化通過向甲基化組蛋白中招募HP1(CBX1、CBX3和/或CBX5)蛋白,代表表觀遺傳轉(zhuǎn)錄抑制的一個(gè)特定標(biāo)記。主要作用于異鉻酸鹽區(qū),在周中心區(qū)和端粒區(qū)的本構(gòu)性異染色質(zhì)的建立中起著重要作用。H3'Lys-9'三甲基化也需要在中心周重復(fù)點(diǎn)直接DNA甲基化。SUV39H1通過與RB1相互作用而以組蛋白H3為靶點(diǎn),參與了抑制肌D1刺激分化、調(diào)控細(xì)胞周期退出和進(jìn)入分化的控制開關(guān)、PML-RARA融合蛋白的抑制、BMP誘導(dǎo)的抑制等過程,抑制IgA的開關(guān)重組和端粒長度的調(diào)節(jié)。
